Most people are probably familiar with the term Alimony: payment from one spouse to another, usually during and after the Divorce for a certain duration. Maintenance is just the new name for Alimony. Maintenance is meant to help a spouse maintain a certain standard of living for a specified time period. It can be a very important part of the Divorce process and is something to be considered and thought about.
